Beginners Toolkit to Narrative Keyframes

  • Calling all artists looking for a process to create cohesive story-based visual projects!
    How can we utilize written stories for our personal projects? What keyframes should I choose? And most importantly, how do I make it more creative?

  • Certainly that is a large task, but we will break it down into its most basic parts. In this class, you will learn a process to help streamline narrative illustration and design. We will aim to complete 1 keyframe illustration and its necessary supporting design explorations.

Demos will be in Adobe Photoshop. Students are free to choose their own media such as Procreate or traditional media.

    Please come with your own Creative Story in mind. Expectations: It would be nice to have the basics of perspective down.​

  • Character Design Basics

  • Color Key and Palettes Fundamentals

  • Applying concepts to your Keyframes

  • Presentation and Final Critique

Note: This course is designed to provide a thorough overview of the subject matter. The exact content and structure of the course may be adjusted by the instructor to best suit the needs and interests of the class.

Instructor: Alisha Gao

Alisha is an Art Center Concept Design Alumni who previously worked for Riot Games as a Contract Concept Artist. She has over a decade of illustration and drawing experience and has been mentoring students since 2019. She has experience critiquing both high school to college level students about this topic, and has a passion for sharing her excitement for image making.
