Week 01: Introduction to Shadow Movement

  • Personal Introduction

  • Basic concepts of shadow movement in black and white lighting

  • Demo: Photoshop tips for creating brushes and shortcuts

  • Demo 2: Exploring how spheres appear in various black and white lighting scenarios

Week 02: Understanding Color and Light

  • Lecture on the basics of shadow movement in black and white lighting and different types of lights, with examples of ambient and direct light

  • Demo: Examining spheres under different warm and cool color lighting conditions

Week 03: Lighting Relationships with Objects

  • Lecture on various materials' reactions to light

  • Demo: Painting different objects under different lighting conditions

Week 04: Creating Mood with Value

  • Importance of value in creating mood, with examples from paintings, games, and cinematics

  • Demo 1: Creating simple value structures and rendering objects in black and white

  • Demo 2: Painting objects with three different value settings in one drawing

Week 05: Color and Light Variation over Time

  • Lecture on color relationships, including complementary and analogous color schemes, and how objects' colors change with different timelines (e.g., sunset, twilight)

  • Demo: Painting landscapes with varying light conditions
