Stylized Character Design with Erin Shin

5-Week Course

In this course, Erin will guide students through a 5 day stylized character design course where at the end, the student will have a portfolio project of a character design project of their choice.

Class will be hosted on Zoom. Please download app before 1st day of class. Mic is required for critiques, webcam encourage, not required (nobody want to speak to a blank screen)

Shared Google Drive Folder for Student Feedback

Demos will be in Adobe Photoshop. Students are free to choose their own media such as Procreate or traditional media.

  • This class is for intermediate level art students who want to continue developing their skills. Students are expected the know basics human anatomy 

  • Expect 3-5 hours of homework per week with this class.

Note: This course is designed to provide a thorough overview of the subject matter. The exact content and structure of the course may be adjusted by the instructor to best suit the needs and interests of the class.

Instructor: Erin Shin

Erin Shin is a talented Visual Development Artist for Animation with extensive experience in the industry. She has worked on character design, pitch development, world-building, and environment art for the upcoming animated feature film Steps at Netflix Animation. As a Visual Development Intern at Disney Animation Studios, Erin led art direction, lighting direction, environment visual development, and credit illustration for the annual intern short June Bug. She also served as a Concept Artist at Cartoon Network Studios, working on world-building concept art and pitch development for an unannounced animation project. Erin has also worked as a Visual Development Artist at Taiko Studios, creating various concept art, visual development, character design, and key art pieces for animated projects and pitches. In addition, she served as Art Director for Art Center Production's first game capstone project, Project Abaddon, leading art direction, art production management, visual development, and cinematic production.
